Dear Church Family and Friends,
I am leaving for my missions trip to Philippines at 8am on Monday morning! For those of you who didn’t know, I received all of my support for the trip and everything is go! Thank you to all who helped me in reaching my goal! Please be in prayer for Pastor Kenton and I as we travel to the other side of the world to equip and minister to pastoral leaders in Baguio and Tabuk (two towns north of Manila.) The Philippines is exactly 12 hours ahead of the east coast U.S.A. So that means that when it is noon here, it is midnight there! (Oh, my!!)
The schedule for the next two Sunday mornings will be:
Sunday, April 22nd
Speaker – Pastor Gerald Martin Worship Leader – Kaj Overgaard
Sunday April 29th
Speaker – Dan Burt Worship Leader – Kaj Overgaard
Everence (a Christian mutual aid organization) will be sharing on Sunday, April 22nd. I want to encourage you to consider participating with Everence. When I was younger, I didn’t understand the concept of stewardship and money management. Ideas like as insurance and saving for retirement just seemed to be out of reach or a waste of money. I knew that God wanted me to steward my money and resources well but had no idea how to do it. Everence is a “mutual aid” organization. Everence does not exist to make money. This Mennonite organization works by bringing together the resources of many people in order to use it for those who are in need. They also help people with just a little bit of money to invest it wisely so that they will have enough to live on later in life. Please consider talking with our Everence representative after the meeting about participating.
Last night was our first Hearing God’s Voice class! Twenty-two people are enrolled in the course! The goal of the class is to learn to hear the voice of God and learning how to separate it from all the other “noise” that we encounter in life. If you would like to take the course it’s not too late! We are having a meeting in the fellowship hall THIS SUNDAY from 12:15 to 1:15 to catch up those who missed the first class. If you would like to take this course, this is your last chance! Meet with the group in fellowship hall at 12:15pm on Sunday following the celebration service.
We collected nearly $500 for benevolence last Sunday! I am excited about this! Using the Everence matching grant program this translates into almost $1000 that we can use to help those in our congregation who are in serious financial need! This is the church in action!
Between April 16th and May 1st while I am in the Philippines, Carol Quesenberry (434-760-0009) and Bob French (434-987-9364) will be your contacts for ministry needs. Please contact Arlin Martin (434-531-5968) for building related issues.
I plan to give do the weekly newsletter from the Philippines so that I report first-hand what is happening!
See you Sunday!
Pastor Jon Quesenberry
