Pastor’s Heart (July 26th)

From the Pastor’s Heart,

I missed seeing everyone last Sunday. Thanks to Russ for preaching,  Matt for leading the service and Sandy for meeting with Pastor Walt and the children’s leader from life Journey Church. I’m sorry I wasn’t there to show them around but Pastor Walt’s response was that it went great and everyone was wonderfully accommodating. Thank you for filling in.

We are looking forward to a great time this weekend when Life Journey Church will be joining us at RCC for the Sunday morning worship celebration. Being that Life journey could not meet at their regular location this Sunday I’m glad it worked out for us to host them at our church. I will be leading the service, Pastor Walt will be preaching and Pastor Jon will be leading the worship music team.

Since almost all the children will be from their church they will be providing the leadership for the children’s ministry. So, if you have friends or neighbors with children that you would like to invite this would be a good Sunday to invite them. For your information two sets of offering baskets will be passed, one for each church. Just so you know what to expect. Otherwise the service will be pretty much the same as usual.

Sunday, August 6, is the regular time for our ministry team to meet. If you are providing leadership for any of our congregational ministries, you are invited and encouraged to attend. However, this is not a closed meeting. Spouses and others who may be interested are welcome to come and join the discussion. Just bring your own packed lunch and we will all eat together in the fellowship hall before the meeting. We will try to keep it to about an hour and a half.

This month my focus has been on observing and getting acquainted. We haven’t gotten around to visiting everyone yet but we have made good progress and will continue as time permits. I have noticed a few things that may need some attention but overall I’m encouraged with what I’m seeing and hearing.

However, there are a few things that I would like to begin talking about as we plan for the fall months including missions, cell groups, a possible weekly study course to name a few. My goal, by God’s grace, is to do what we can to raise the level of spiritual and emotional health in the congregation which has to do with “being” and not just “doing.”  So, come prepared to talk about these things or other things that may be in your heart.

Bless you

Pastor Gerald
