- Prayer and Fasting

Prayer and Fasting are two of the inner disciplines mentioned in Scripture. Whereas some of us may pray on a daily basis, fasting may be one of those disciplines that we tend to shy away from because it makes us uncomfortable. Fasting can take the form of foregoing one, two, or three meals a day for an extended period of time while seeking the Lord. It can also be avoiding certain kinds of food, such as sugar, carbs, etc. Fasting can also take the form of avoiding things other than food…technology, secular music…whatever may be controlling one’s life.
As pastor, I want to encourage you to join me in this fast…however the Lord may lead you to fast during this time. As you fast, let’s seek the Lord on behalf of our country, our church, and our own individual lives as we seek to draw closer to the One who loves us more than any other. He desires a deep, rich relationship with each of us, and fasting is a very powerful way to improve our relationship with Him. I look forward to hearing testimonies as to what God does in your life during this time. May God encourage and bless you richly in these days.
