LET’S CELEBRATE! This Sunday we celebrate the power of God over death! We meet to recognize that there is nothing that can overcome the Love of God! Jesus gave His life for us on the Cross. The Son of God gave His life away so that we can experience abundant life on the earth and eternal life in heaven!
The focus for this Resurrection Sunday is celebrating the power of the cross of Jesus. We know the story of Jesus crucifixion on a cross two thousand years ago. We know that Jesus; the sinless Lamb of God, sacrificed his life for our salvation. We know that his excruciating death bought our salvation. But is that what the cross was all about or was there more?
The cross of Jesus is the centerpiece of the universe! The cross is offensive if we consider it as a ending to the story of the Hero and Author of our faith. The cross is mysterious. Why does the death of Jesus produce life in us and why do we celebrate the cross when we partake of communion? This coming Sunday we will explore the power and the comprehensive transforming effect of the cross of Jesus on the history of humanity! We will discover how everything that we do in a presence-based community is dependent on the cross of Jesus! We will discover the incredible importance of this verse: “… He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father.”
Following this Sunday we will continue our Presence-Based Community Series to focus on “Equipping the Saints.” God is enabling His church to live supernaturally. Jesus told His disciples,” Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” (Mat 10:8) Does this command of Jesus apply to us today?
I wanted to give a short report about Ellen Wyant. For those of you who don’t know. Ellen, Henry Wyant’s wife has been suffering for years with a debilitating form of chronic Lymes disease. When Henry was hospitalized last fall, Ellen was taken from his home and placed in the care of Ellen’s oldest son. On Wednesday, Henry and I spent the day in mediation with family lawyers. We found out that the doctor has given Ellen has between 2 to 6 months to live! Please be in prayer for Henry! He is dealing with this prognosis PLUS the lawyers have said that he must meet a number of specific requirements to bring Ellen home. One of these requirements is that he must have someone visit his home both morning and afternoon 7 days a week! In order to meet this requirement we will also be circulating a sign-up sheet! Please consider signing up to visit Henry and Ellen so that Ellen can come home soon!
Hearing God’s Voice Class will start Thursday, April 12th! This class is one of the best courses on how to hear the voice of God! If you want to clearly hear God speaking to you personally – THIS CLASS IS FOR YOU! This class personally changed my life because it is not just learning ABOUT how to hear God, but it is actually practicing hearing and seeing in the Spirit. It is also the first class that was not “spooky” or difficult! Sign-up for the class today using the sign-up sheet in the entryway!
Remember that the church is open EVERY THURSDAY from 8am- 5pm for worship and prayer. As we discussed “abiding” (worship, meditation and prayer) is one of the vital aspects of a presence-based community! It is our goal as a church to have individuals or groups gathering at the church 24/7, 365 days a year! This building a set apart as a place to encounter and commune with God!
See you Sunday!
